Learning continues, despite a pandemic…… February 2021

In Ethiopia, pupils returned to school in November. Pupils are wearing masks and class sizes have been reduced where possible. Despite the rising numbers of coronavirus in both countries we are continuing to work with our partner charity Together We Learn. Since September, four classrooms have been refurbished, a new school fence, a water fountain and entrance have been built. Teachers have continued training and pupil numbers are steadily rising. We will be undertaking a review of the school in mid February and this will determine what our next actions will be.

We have recently been lucky enough to receive a wonderful legacy donation of £15,000. This will help fund phase 3 of our school project and we are very grateful for this. As you may know, international charities have been causalities of the recent pandemic. Despite many applications for funding, we do not anticipate any response so every donation, no matter how small, really does help our children.

News of conflict in the Tigray region of Ethiopia has been upsetting. Whilst saddened by the situation the project and the staff have not been directly affected and we hope for a peaceful resolution as soon as possible.

Onwards and upwards….. into a new year, a growing school and another exciting new chapter.
