A School is Born! November 2018
Our School has been Born!
Three classes are now up and running with our newly appointed teachers! Grade 1 (7/8 year olds), Grade 2 (8/9 year olds) and Grade 3 (9/10 year olds) are being taught English, Maths, Environmental Sciences, Amharic (the local language) and Art - the standard Ethiopian curriculum. The headteacher has been appointed and he is called Mr Endalk Tsega.
There is still such a long way to go, but it is wonderful to think that children’s lives are already in the process of being changed for the better. The best site for the other classes and buildings is now in the process of being chosen.
Donations
Here in the UK, donations are slowly coming in. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our cause so far. I’ve been busy contacting many organisations (including schools) to see if anyone will sponsor part of the project. This could perhaps be a science laboratory or even a toilet block! Please contact us if you know of anyone who might be interested. I am very happy to give a presentation to any group or organisation who may be interested in the project for a small donation to the charity.
In the meantime, I’m just about to book my ticket to Gendit to visit the school to see the progress we are making. This will hopefully be in February 2019.
Watch this space!
