A New Semester and Clean Hands! April 2022
A new semester has seen clean hands! We have now completed a WASH station and pupils have had training on how to wash their hands. This will help sanitation and provide valuable drinking water during many days of hot weather in the dry season.
As in the UK, the pandemic has left our pupils with gaps in their reading and so as a key priority some pupils have been given catch up lessons. Tea and bread which is a much needed snack in a rural area have been a real incentive to keep children in school to attend afternoon lessons.
And new chalk! As teachers didn’t have any teaching resources we have provided regular Teacher Tool Kits which include pens, paper, chalk etc to help prepare and give lessons. The teachers are delighted and lessons ae more engaging. In addition we have been training teachers on learning strategies and making resources to make lessons more engaging and practical for pupils.
New uniforms have been provided by the excellent Propelo School Recruitment Consultancy who have agreed to sponsor our uniforms each year. Our pupils look very smart and the parents are delighted as most cannot afford a uniform for their child.
And great news is that construction, which has been put on hold for over a year may hopefully begin again in September. This means that we are excited that a new staffroom/resource room, a library, a directors office and new classrooms can be built as the school expands to Grade 6. We now have nine teachers and 267 pupils enrolled at the school from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Watch this space for more details!
